Peaches, Currants, Rasberries, Gooseberries are well on the way now, Broadbeans, First early potatoes, Artichokes, Onions and Garlic are lifted and drying, Tomatoes are ripening for the salad bowl, Peas fresh and sweet, ready to eat. Other edibles now, Cucumbers, Basil, Watercress,Mediterranean Purslane, Lettuce, Rocket.

The most well known of beneficial insects, but that’s for a reason, it can consume thousands of greenfly as an adult, but most incredible,  it’s larvae consume tens of thousands.

Below is what they look like, to encourage them in,  you need lots of cover in your beds and borders, not to use pesticides on your green and black fly, encourage them into your garden by growing plants with a lot of pollen similarly with Hover flies, such as Fennel, Dill, Parsley, Marigolds, Chamomile, Nasturtium and Lavenders.
